New Shirt!

Yesterday I took 2 shirts of mine and made them into a new shirt. I am back into wearing fall clothes and I have been able to pull out some pre children clothes that I brought over here and haven't worn yet. But 3 plus years ago the trend in fashion was to have shirt that went right to the natural waist. With being pregnant and in between sizes for a while I feel more comfortable with longer shirts that go to my hips and it seems like most fashion has longer shirts. So my dilemma - how to make my shirt longer?

So after getting ideas from a few craft blogs I decided to take a tank top and cut off the bottom of it and attach it to the bottom of my other shirt. Then I cut off another section of the tank top and ruffled it and attached it to the neckline. It was so easy to do and it didn't take me long at all. I followed the stitch of the main shirt so you can't even tell I sewed on it. I now have a shirt that won't show skin when I bend over and it covers my neckline better too. Since we don't have dryers here and our washing machines really beat our clothes up most of our clothes get stretched our- collars are the worst! So I solved my problem and really like the result.

I have plans for a few other clothing items of mine. It is fun to be resourceful and to get a new clothing item out of existing clothes.

We Are Back

Our computer is fixed. PTL! We didn't lose anything so it is all working now we just have a loud keyboard from the sticky keys but we are very thankful.

We have been busy. I am a little more tired than usual. Maybe it is getting back into the routine of school on top of being a mom. :)

Ev and I are going to a "Mommy and Me" time. It is nice taking Ev to play with other kids her age. We are very thankful there are two new families in town with little girls Ev's age. In the past two years Ev has lost her 3 best friends so I am glad to have some other girls for her to play with. I also get to connect with some moms as we do crafts, singing, circle time and so on together. It is fun that we have all been teachers and I think we seem to flock together. We have had fun sharing educational ideas and other things that educators love to do.

Poor Elijah he is the only little boy around. I haven't taken him to the Mommy and Me time because out of the 6 kids that go, none are boys. All of the girls love dressing up, playing with doll houses and being girls. Little man is desperate for another boy his age. So are we.

While on the topic of Elijah this past week he got slammed into a wall giving him a nasty cut just missing his eye. He also got his finger stuck in a door and couldn't get it out. I really have to keep my eye on him.

Accident

Right now I am writing from our friend's computer. Today Gatorade was spilled on our computer and it isn't working. After the initial shock of what happened Todd took the computer to our local Sony store to see if they can do anything. We may be able to salvage the hard drive, we are hoping for that at least. So we won't have Internet, email and everything else for an unknown amount of time. So I am hoping our families are reading this and know that we can't Skype for now. We can't access our email account or I would write you all personally. Sorry guys!

Cross your fingers and hope for the best. If we did lose our computer we would have lost all our email and things from the past couple of weeks that we had not updated on our external hard drive. Meaning we may have lost around 400 email address. Yikes! Who knows how we will get a new computer all the way over here. Right now I am going to try to think positively.

Update on Elijah's Nose

So our doctor emailed us back saying that Elijah's nose could possibly be broken, but you really can't do anything for it since he isn't having trouble breathing. The next part is where I just hate that emails can't convey the true voice someone wants to get across- the doctor said that maybe in the future Hobs will need to get a nose job... not really want this mom wanted to hear. I am sure the doctor didn't mean it to come across that blunt but that is how I took it. Although our doctor thinks it will heal fine and that Hobs won't look like a boxer. My poor little baby!

Broken???

A few days ago Elijah face planted and has had a red line on his nose, 2 small bruises on the bridge of his nose and a red line under his nose. When it happened it scared us a little although he didn't actually bleed from his nose. Ev later told us that she pushed him, although I am sure Elijah wasn't innocent either he probably took something from her and was running away when she pushed him to the ground. His nose hasn't bothered him since the fall. Poor guy every time I look at his face it makes me wonder if it is broken or not.

We emailed our doctor who had us send him an picture of it, so we are waiting back to see what he says. From our initial email he didn't think it was bad but wanted to make sure.

Oh the joys of not having health care available.

Conversations with Evangelia

Ev: Look Dad there is a white angel
Todd: What? Where? (he really thought she was talking about a real angel)
Ev: Right there dad
Todd: Oh...(outside our dinning room, kitchen and Ev's bedroom is a large water fountain- they finished it off today but putting a very large sculpture of a white angel with large wings)


Ev loves water fountains and she loves angels I guess it couldn't get any better for her. She can see them both from her window in her room.

Later in the day-
Todd: So Ev do you see real angels?
Me: Ev what do they look like? What color are they?
Ev: Daddy has a big angel, Mom's angel is blue and Elijah's is green,Ev's is pink.

For a long time Ev has been interested in angels and talks about them, points to them when we ask her where they are and talks to them. In "mommy school" today she matched colored crayons to colored cars. I guess her learning is running into her conversations. :)

Mommy School

Over the Summer I have been reading some books from my collection when I was a teacher to Ev. She picks out what she wants me to read to her and lately we have read some about school. Ev has told me she wants to go to school. We are planning on sending her to the local preschool next semester but for now she is going to what we call "mommy school". She loves going to Sunday school so this is the name we came up with.

I made a pocket chart type thing labeled with pictures to show her what we will be spending our time on. I have some goals for her this semester and I made a big deal today about her starting school. I got all the materials I needed and we closed her door and we sat at her table in her room.

Since I am in school she likes that she goes to school too. Right now I am focusing on a letter of the alphabet a week, we are going through a Monthly Toddler activity book, we are doing some reading time (books on CD and books that are read to you from the Internet), and some preschool Centers that I made for her.

When our school was over Todd asked me who liked it better her or me. :) I do admit I enjoyed making my pocket chart and planning out what we are doing. I got to use our small laminator today, who wouldn't love that?!
