Spring Birthdays

Our boys have birthdays that are a couple weeks apart from each other.  So they are the same age for those two weeks.  At the end of April, Ian turned 7 years old.  He has been patiently waiting to lose a tooth and just a few days after he turned 7 he lost his first one!  Then this week his second one came out.  We were in another city on Ian's birthday so we celebrated with some good friends.  Ian's desire was to go to Burger King and Dairy Queen to get a burger and a blizzard and we made that happen.  We also spent the day with our good friends and their kids as we rented kid sized four wheelers and other kinds of cars for them to drive around.  

Elijah's birthday came the week after Mother's day.  We celebrated him with going to Burger King and Dairy Queen too but he also wanted mom's home made pizza for dinner.  

This last Saturday we had a joint birthday party for the boys.  We had a house full of 11 kids, 8 boys and 3 girls.  Even though it rained most of the day, the kids had fun inside.  I can't believe we now have a 7 yr old, 8 yr old and 9 yr old in our house.  

2015 March - May

In March we were a part of a writing co op with several families that home school in our city. The kids and I went on ice cream dates, I went with a friend to get sushi, and the kids enjoyed time outside.

In May we had a Planes Fire Rescue and Star Wars Birthday party for the boys.  We had lots of fun themed food, the made masks, paper airplanes, played outside in the rain with their light saber bubble wants and had a great time.

Lego Birthday Party

Since our boy's birthdays are a couple weeks apart for the second year we've done one big party for the two of them.  So far it has worked out well.  This year we changed our theme from baseball to Legos.

This was the first time I made my own fondant.  For Elijah's real birthday he wanted cupcakes with lego heads, Ian had requested brownies with Oreos inside and sprinkles and more Oreos on top.  Then for the party we did more cupcakes with lego bricks and minifigures for the two boys.

We played lego toss, where they had to toss the lego into the smallest circle to get the most points.  We played "hot lego" like hot potato.  We had a race to see who could build the tallest lego tower and the kids made their own lego figure.  The kids guessed how many legos it took to create our lego castle.  We also had a photo booth where we had printed some lego masks from legos.com and had some other dress up items for them to wear. 

I decorated with large legos made out of construction paper, a banner out of lego font, I drew lego faces on yellow balloons, and I used some of the boys duplos and legos around the house as decorations.

For food we had cupcakes with legos on top, brownies made to look like legos with icing and m&ms, the juice boxes were covered to look like lego bricks, and some other fun snacks.
