Disney World Day 1: Magic Kingdom

We had the time of our lives in Florida at Disney World.  It really is a magical place.  We stayed at the Pop Century Resort and got to enjoy the benefits of getting picked up from the airport and taking the buses from our Resort to the Parks. 

 

We got to use the Magic Band + and so everyone had a different color band.  These were really amazing.  It was your room key, your park ticket, you could buy things at the parks with it, buy souvenirs/food at your resort, this really was everything. 

 

I did a lot of research for this trip and we decided to go the last weekend of April beginning of May because it was a low crowd week.  Because of this our cost of our rooms was lower and the crowds were not bad at all. A few days we had some rain showers but we got ponchos and kept on going.

 

We spent 7 days in Florida and spent 5 days at the Parks.

We went to the Magic Kingdom twice, Epcot twice, and Hollywood Studios once.  We spent the first afternoon at our resort then the next 3 days at parks and then took a day off.  Then we did a open to close at the Magic Kingdom the next day and then spent our last day at Epcot again.

I had toys/goodies for the kids to wake up to each morning and they had a note on them from a character that they would see in the park we were going to that day.  I had no idea that the kids would really believe it but they did.  They even asked the characters when we would meet them if they brought them toys that morning and every character said, "YES!"  I loved how the characters interacted with the kids. 

 

When we booked our reservations we told them we were celebrating Ian's birthday.  So when we arrived not only did the kids get buttons saying it was their first time at Disney, Ian got a birthday button.  Everyone at the park made sure to wish him a happy birthday. And Mickey and Minnie left a message on our phone in our room singing Happy Birthday to Ian.  That was really special for him.

 

We brought our breakfast, lunch and snacks to the park every day and this worked out really well for us. 

We arrived in the afternoon so we hung around our resort the first day since there was so much to do there.

We did a mix of meeting characters and kids rides and we had our Fast Passes in the afternoon.  Since the crowd was smaller it made the morning go really smooth and it wasn't until after lunch time that waiting in line started getting a little longer.  We were thankful to have our Fast Passes during that time. 

 

I had read about getting to the park an hour before it opened and that is what we did.  We had to go get a wheel chair for Todd and by being at the park when it opened it felt like we could get a lot done in the morning before lunch.

 

Most of the days we got there early and stayed until about dinner time.  Our second day at the Magic Kingdom we got there before the park opened and stayed until 11pm.  The weather was very sunny and so we saw 3 parades and the night show and fire works. 

 

 

 

 

 

Stateside Time and A LOT of pictures!

So far we have had a very full schedule the past 3 months we have been in America.  Todd had knee surgery, Ian started going to FBBA's Pre K, the kids started T ball and Coach Pitch, the kids were in a parade for the Tulsa Driller's opening day, we've traveled to Texas for a Rangers game with some of our extended family, we've been to Kansas a couple of weekends to see Kelli's family, Ian turned 5, we spent a week at Disney World, and Hobs turned 6 last weekend.  This weekend starts our marathon of speaking engagements every Sunday for the next 6 weeks straight.

 Ev got to go to an OU softball game where she got to announce the OU players during the 3rd inning.  She had the time of her life meeting the players and getting their autographs.  Hobs got to go to a Rangers game where he got a game ball and Derrick Holland signed his baseball hat.  Ian has been able to go to the Tulsa Zoo with his class. 

All of the kids have been enjoying being on baseball teams.  Ian and Hobs play T ball and have been loving their time together.  Hobs and Ev play coach pitch and they have really enjoyed getting to play ball with the other kids on their team.  Both have been able to get a game ball for doing great. 

Todd's parents went with us to Disney World and his sister and her husband joined us for a few days too.  The kids loved Disney.  They really were at a perfect age to have the time of their lives.  Their faces and excitement was what we enjoyed watching.

 Across the street from where we are staying is a Target.  I can't say how much I've enjoyed going to Target we just don't have anything like this where we live.

The month of March we had doctors appointments the whole month.  This is from when the boys got their physicals.  They were trying out a water fountain for the FIRST time!

Some of the kid's practices got rained out so the Coach Pitch team went to the batting cages.

We've been able to see some of our extended family.

January

Usually in January things slow down for us here.  We started off the New Year with sickness and hospital visits but hopefully we can make it through the remainder of January and February.  The countdown to traveling to America has begun.  Less than 2 months!  We have been doing home school since June so we will keep going and will finish our school year just in time to take our summer vacation in America.  That is what keeps the kids going with home school these days.  :)

Elijah had some trouble with his asthma when we all had the flu so we had to get an oxygen tank to help him during his coughing fits.

I cut my hair.

Elijah's first tooth came out.

Kids have been playing a little ball inside the house because it is way to cold to go outside.
